Stop paying for bottled water

Many offices still have water coolers. This should be stopped. We are all capable of taking water to work.

Reduces costs

I agree with this proposal, although I understand some buildings have old pipe networks which mean the water isn't suitable for drinking, so this needs to be looked at building by building

I was just about to add this one - this is a 'luxury' that the Council shouldn't have to provide. Drinking water is free and if you happen to work somewhere with old pipes then I'm sure most staff would either be able to bring in their own tap water for hot drinks or drink something else whilst they are at work.

Agree - we'd drink tap water at home and are all big enough to take from the tap, or if you think the water is not suitable take a bottle from home I think for all these drink/coffee/lunch type items we should be providing our own food and drink. You'd eat at home so how is it diffarent being at work? It's a nice to have - not a need to have.

Water coolers in Drummuie are connected to the plumbing so no bottles here but still a maintenance / cleaning cost

HSE's Workplace Regulations legislation obliges the Council to provide drinking water that is free from contamination and accessible to all employees. As SteveC mentioned above, not all sites have safe drinking water from the taps, so the use of water coolers is the workaround. Asking employees to take their own water to work is not a solution, as it does not meet the HSE regs.

For anywhere with suitable drinking water from the taps though, the coolers are not required.
